Derwent Hunter

Here’s why you will love exploring the Whitsunday Islands on the Derwent Hunter Day sail

Set sail on the legend that is “Derwent Hunter”. Built in 1945 by the Wilson Brothers shipwrights of Tasmania she is made of blue gum & Tasmanian oak, some of the best timbers for ship building. Derwent Hunter has been sailing the sheltered waters of the Whitsunday Islands for the past 25 years. Be delighted by the pristine coral reefs and untouched islands you will visit.

Sailing through the calm northern bays of the Whitsundays you will visit Stonehaven where you can snorkel on fringing coral reef straight from the beach. Many of our lucky guests spot turtles and large rays. During the winter months humpback whales sightings are common on our tours.

Actual itinerary subject to weather conditions – as this is a REAL sailing adventure. Depart Abell Point Marina in the heart of Airlie Beach. Set sail across the Whitsunday Passage, help the crew raise the sails or sit back and relax, enjoying the spectacular scenery.

Enjoy a scrumptious morning tea, with chocolate cake, biscuits and seasonal treats before heading ashore at Langford Reef & Bali Hai for snorkelling and beach combing. Alternatively, relax at the beach or from a shady spot on deck and watch the morning activities.

Return to the vessel for a delicious buffet lunch of cold meats, salads and tropical fruits.

Depart under sail to return across the Whitsunday Passage. Buy a drink from our licenced bar and enjoy afternoon cheese & fruit platters as you sail home.
