Here’s why you will love exploring the Whitsunday Islands on board Solway Lass
Built in Holland 1902, Solway Lass is rich in history and has lived through both World Wars. The ship has been used for coal carting and carried cargo until she was restored in 1984. It was then used as a floating Restaurant in Sydney Harbour, until it was sailed to the Whitsundays in the early 1990’s. In early 1999 Solway Lass was remodelled for overnight 3 day & 3 night sailing holidays through the Whitsunday Islands.
Solway Lass is fully air-conditioned and has 11 cabins for 32 guests. The cabins contain Teak and Cedar feature walls along with Jarrah timber trims. Beautiful!
Furthermore Solway Lass covers around 90 nautical miles (160 km’s), exploring beautiful spots including Whitehaven Beach, Blue Pearl Bay on Hayman Island, Mantaray and Nara Inlet. While stopping to snorkel and swim on the island coral fringing reefs.
Solway Lass provides up to 32 guest with the opportunity to experience sailing as it was a century ago with the 11 sails and 5500 square feet of sail area. Guests are welcome to assist the crew hoist the sails and steer the ship, or otherwise just relax on the huge decks and take in the views.
Great news for travelers who wish to continue sailing the Whitsundays, the Solway Lass also offers a 6 day & 6 night option. This option is available for a Saturday departure only.

In these cabins, guests can sleep on the double, or use the double and the single above on a twin basis. While the cabin is small, there is a gap alongside the bed. Many couples use the top bunk to store their bags.
When requested, we can also put three guests together in this cabin. It is the ideal solution for a couple travelling with a child.
Private Twin and Double Cabins with Private Ensuites
