Here’s why you will love mooring your boat in the Whitsundays

Whitsunday Islands Moorings are a great way to view the magical Whitsunday Islands. With the 74 Islands in the Whitsundays thereare plenty of places for you to moor your vessel. We have a list of the various locations you might want to choose from below.

Hayman Island Resort


The exclusive resort of Hayman is one of the leading Hotels in the world and the ultimate in island living. Australian bushland flows into tropical palm fringed beaches. Shady ponds and gentle waterfalls thread their way among beautiful gardens and spacious walkways. The feeling of modern tropical elegance prevails. If you wish to visit this resort be sure to book in advance as the number of boating visitors per day are extremely limited. They are also particular about the conduct and dress of their guests. Day berths only (10am – 3pm) available to visit this breathtaking resort,
 but if you do want to stay for the evening, accommodation must be booked on the island.

Marina, Fuel, Water, Rubbish Disposal, Dive Shop, Nurse, Restaurants.

Cost:-

$145.00 p/day (10am-3pm)
for the vessel and 2 people

$35.00 per extra person thereafter

Day guests are required to dine in one of the islands restaurants for lunch

South Molle Island Resort

Consisting of 405 hectares of unspoiled National Park. South Molle Island is just eight kilometres from the mainland. Explore the 16 kilometres of walking track which takes you through lush forests to hilltop lookouts offering panoramic water views of the Whitsundays. A visit to this island resort is by anchorage only, on the eastern side of the jetty, leaving enough room for the very large water taxis to manoeuver.

Hook Island Resort

Hook Island is the second largest of the Whitsunday Islands. The Resort is situated on the South-Eastern corner of the island and has a very relaxed, informal atmosphere.

Restaurant, Small General Store, Gift Shop, Pool Tables, Dive Shop, Outboard Fuel, Showers & Toilets.

Long Island – Club Crocodile – Happy Bay

Club Crocodile Long Island Resort is set amidst frangipanis, coconut palms and tropical flame trees, surrounded by rainforest and Queensland’s spectacular Great Barrier Reef.

Enjoy two pools, a great beach and daily activities. Long Island has its own coral reef in Happy Bay, which is great for snorkelling and scuba diving or just relax in a hammock under the coconut palms.

Long Island – Peppers Palm Bay 

Peppers Palm Bay welcomes bare-boating guests and offers a personalised mooring service and well maintained moorings. The skipper will come out to your vessel and guide you through the passage to your mooring. Do not enter the lagoon without the pilot. If you haven’t had any luck fishing yet you may want to purchase some local fresh fish, available at the islands shop. An excellent restaurant offers some of the best cuisine in the area. A “must see” for anyone visiting the Whitsundays.

ALL GUESTS ARE REQUIRED TO PAY THE RESTAURANT BOOKING FEE AND DOES NOT INCLUDE BEVERAGES – YOU ARE REQUIRED TO BE IN HARBOUR BY 3PM. IF YOU ARE LATER THAN THIS YOU WILL BE PLACED ON MOORING OUTSIDE THE PROTECTION OF THE HARBOUR.

Hamilton Island

Hamilton Island is the largest resort in the South Pacific with its own harbour and fauna park. Around the marina you will find a unique village atmosphere where you can pick up any supplies you need. There are over 85 activities to choose from on the island including windsurfing, go-carts, rifle range, golf driving etc.

General Store, Butcher, Chemist, Bakery, Nightclub, Boutique, Laundry, Pub, Post Office, Dive Shop, Restaurants, Toilets, Showers, Doctor, Fuel and Rubbish Disposal.

$10 p/hour (throughout day)

Daydream Island


There is a small marina on the North-Eastern side of the island and 5 moorings are being installed shortly. You cannot anchor around the island as it is foul ground, and the cost of retrieving your stuck anchor will quickly dampen your holiday mood. The island offers a large variety of activities and facilities, many are free of charge.

Facilities:-

Out door cinema, Tennis, Gym, Pools, Table Tennis, Water Sports, Photo Lab, Hair Salon, Mini Golf, Tavern, Pool Bar, Bakery, small General Store and Restaurant

Cost:-

$55.00 for a mooring
Radio Daydream Island Resort on channel 16
